There are times when all of us feel alone. Some are single but others may feel alone in the midst of a large family or with a marriage partner. …There is a friend who sticks closer than a brother (Prov 18:24 NASB). That one is Jesus. He wants to be your friend.
I often talk to the Lord, sometimes out loud, sometimes silently. Yes I pray but this is different. He is like a great friend, a loving brother, or an awesome father who is there to listen. I feel his pleasure as I bustle about my day and tell him the latest heartache, rejection, or problem that I have encountered. I love to soak in His presence. As I write this, I have been in a doctor's waiting room for one hour. Their computers went down and somehow I got missed. Twenty people that came after me got through before me. I could have gotten upset but if feel I just got some precious time I needed with God, alone. With Him I am never alone. I cherish these quiet times to share with my God. His love refreshes me; it strengthens me. He speaks to me and encourages me.
There are times you can be in a large group and feel all alone and even frightened. Practice the presence of Jesus in your heart at these times. Let yourself feel His presence, whether driving, while sitting in a waiting room, or even as you are at work. Let His love flow into you.
Right now I'm still waiting in the doctor's office. I'm not a patient person by nature. But I am enjoying my time with Him. This isn't prayer time; this is He and me alone time. Oh how I love God and need Him. Take a deep breath, take a minute or an hour and let him just minister to you. You are never alone. Is not about all the work you do for Him; and you can work for Him. It is a love relationship with your friend.
Love, Jeanne
